SAN JUAN, METRO MANILADel Rosario, together with his cousin Orlando "Orly" Ilacad, co-founded Vicor Music Corporation on Raon Street (now Gonzalo Puyat Street) in Quiapo, Manila, in 1966. The company was formally incorporated in 1969, with del Rosario serving as the president and Ilacad as the general manager. Initially, they promoted singles by singers Jeanne Young and Helen Gamboa, personally visiting music stores along Raon Street to secure sales agreements.
As Vicor Music Corporation grew, del Rosario and Ilacad brought in Tony Ocampo to help manage the company. Del Rosario focused on securing music deals, while Ilacad produced the records. In 1970, the company released the first mini-LP in the Philippines, featuring Tirso Cruz III's album "Maria Leonor Theresa," which included songs from Cruz's earlier album "PIP." Del Rosario also signed folk singer Freddie Aguilar to the company in the 1970s.
Later in the decade, Ilacad left Vicor to establish a new company called Canary Records, later renamed OctoArts International. Del Rosario followed suit, leaving Vicor to pursue film production. Ocampo went on to establish Ivory Records in 1983, which later acquired Vicor Music Corporation.
